My Approach
I use Transactional Analysis (TA) as my main theoretical framework. TA offers a very accessible theory of human development, personality and social interactions. It can assist us in understanding how our life experiences have resulted in us forming fixed and unhelpful views of ourselves which then impacts on the we relate to others. In therapy we can explore the beliefs you hold and how they might be creating barriers to you living the life you would like to live. We will explore and challenge those beliefs with the aim of creating new beliefs and ways of relating that will help rather than hinder you

The Philosophy underpinning my work is the belief that:
-
Our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, are deeply interlinked. The mind and body are not separate.
-
Our past has a profound influence on how we are in the present. We need to understand and address the negative consequences of our experiences in order to create the conditions needed for change and growth.
-
Our personality is shaped in relationship. Understanding and improving how we relate to others and how we relate to ourselves is an important part of psychotherapy.
-
Everyone has the capacity to think. My job is not to tell you what to do or think, but to guide and support you on your journey of self-reflection, to help resolve any confusion you may experience on the way so that you can decide what is right for you.
