Practicalities
Beginning therapy can seem like a daunting task and many people have questions or concerns that they would like to address before starting therapy
Questions you may have
I set out below some common queries or concerns that you may have. If there is anything that you are worried about that I have not covered then please feel free to reach out to me via email (see contact details)
How long is a session?
Each therapy session lasts 50 minutes. We will agree a fixed time to meet each week and this will be the slot that is reserved for you for the duration of therapy
What happens at the first appointment?
Our first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you and what has brought you to therapy. I will therefore ask you quite a few questions about what you want to work on and any prior experiences with therapy. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you might have about my background, experience and the process. There is no commitment for you to continue after this first session if you do not feel I am the right therapist for you.
How long does therapy last?
The answer to this question very much depends on you, the issues that you are dealing with and how long you want to spend working on yourself. I offer both short term therapy (usually between 12- 16 weeks) and longer term therapy. We can discuss what you would like at your first session and will continue to address your needs during the course of therapy.
Can I stop at anytime?
Yes you can stop therapy whenever you feel ready to do so. Alternatively you may decide you want to take a break from therapy and resume at a later date.
